Expensive but Necessary
Carries a big load during power outages. Lasts 3-5 hours depending on the demands placed on it. I used to be able to keep heat on during power outages since I have gas heat. I replaced the old units that had pilot lights with much more efficient units that have electronic ignition which doesn’t work without electricity. This unit keeps the furnace going long enough to cover most outages but doesn’t replace a generator for lengthy ones.

If you are worried about noise, do not buy this UPS.
This UPS is actually a great unit if you are not concern the noise level that the unit will put out. I purchased 2 of them and they were supposed to provide power backup for a TV and a computer in the same room. It just did not work. The fans in the UPS’s make too much noise. I returned them the same day. If you are not concerned with the db level or you are using them in a server room environment they will work.

Nice but not enough
I do airbrush tattoos for parties, fairs etc. I need electricy at fairs to run my airbrush compressor. I thought this would be a good way of haveing power without the noise and fumes of a generator. But, the Eletromate holds 500 watts of power which would only run my little compressor for about an hour and a half. Most fairs I do last 5 or 6 hours, so, even though the B&D Electromate 500 is a nice looking very cool item, it just didn’t do the job for me.

Outstanding!
I’ve been using New Balance running shoes for some 20 years now, and the M587 (and its predecessors, the M586 and M585) for much of that time. When I started using New Balance shoes I stopped having the troubles with my knees that I’d been having with other running shoes. I go almost everywhere in the M587–I even teach my university courses wearing the M587! The M587 is simply the best running shoe–and most comfortable shoe of any type–that I’ve ever owned. I hope to keep using the M587 well into the new milenium. I might also add that Amazon.com prices the M587 substantially below the price charged by my previous online supplier.

A great all-around shoe.
I do a whole lot of walking in the city where some places it’s just quicker and more convenient to walk to certain places. If you do a lot of running or walking, you’ll notice a difference in the feel of these shoes compared to other brands. There’s no gimmicky air bubbles or springs; just comfort and support with a style of shoe that goes with anything you wear. It also comes in wide sizes!

New Balance Men’s M587 Running Shoe

Love this car seat!!!
My son loves his car seat and so do I. Yes, it is a little bit heavier than the Graco I had with my daughter (now 6) but this seat is so much safer. My son does not have any trouble sitting in the seat, is not uncomfortable in it, and if the seat is installed properly there should not be a problem with tipping forward. It is easy to get in and out of the car and on and off the base. We have a base in each car and that makes everything easier. I also have the Aria stroller (both in the green bubbles) and I get tons of compliments. It can be tricky getting the car seat to click on the stroller but we’re getting used to it. The “horse blinders” do not bother my son who is now 3 months old and I can see how they would keep his head safer in an accident. I am glad the seat goes up to 30 pounds as it should last us the year. I was nervous getting the car seat after reading all of the negative reviews on here but I have been very happy with it.

Somewhat regret the purchase….
My son is now 6 months old and I have just purchased a new convertible carseat to replace this one. There are a few things wrong with this car seat:
-> while very safe, it is not high on the comfort level. When I look at other car seats they look as if they considered comfort. Not here. My DS hates getting into this seat.
-> The color of the side impact - very dark and very hot in the summer months

While I love the stroller that i Purchased (Aria) since it is so light - this seat is so heavy that I never carry it out of the car anymore. This is my first baby - I am not certain that I will use this car seat for a second one. I would suggest not to buy this sight unseen and without really shopping. We bought it because Peg Perego “travel system” only works with their car seats.

We love this seat!
We bought this seat for our first child in 2008 because of the side-impact protection. The seat is great! It is sturdy, easy to install in the car, easy to put on and remove from the base and I am confident my son is safe in it. We have had no problems with it.

There are a few cons, though:
1) It is really, really heavy. We stopped taking it out of the car regularly last month because it is so heavy with the baby in it. Even with a 6lb newborn I found the seat heavy for me to carry when the baby was in it and I jostled it a lot heaving it to and from the car.

2) If you have the Peg stroller, it takes a bit to get used to clicking it properly onto the stroller.
Unlike an earlier reviewer, we have not had any problems with it falling off the stroller. However, we always give it a tug after hearing the “click” to make sure it is properly attached as it is possible to only attach one “latch” to the stroller and not have the other hooked which makes listening for the “click” as proof it is properly attached deceptive.

3) It seems to be uncomfortable for wider babies. My son is 6 months old and only 17 1/2 lbs but he is wide. He loved this seat when he was younger, but the sides seem to be getting tight on him now and he fusses when we put him in it. We are already searching for a convertible seat that might be more comfortable for him. I don’t know if I can blame the seat for this, though. I think we would have this same problem with any other infant seat.

4) The seat is hot. It wasn’t a problem during the winter months, but now that summer is here my son is sweaty every time I take him out of the seat. The seat needs some kind of ventilation.

We did not experience any problems with the seat cutting our son’s legs, however, we received the replacement piece about a week after our baby was born.

Too fragile
I bought 4 of these. With use, two of them have begun to have an erratic connection. Also, the microphone is not very sensitive, so for most phone calls, I have to hold the microphone in front of my mouth, defeating the purpose of the product.

Best and worst
I bought two of these. One for myself and one for my wife. We both use Shure headphones with these attached. Mine is working and hers will not work. There is a problem wit the plug properly aligning with the connector.

I have bought several solutions to this problem and in every case it seems that that the extra circuit Apple uses to provide the mic and control functions for the iPhone cause problems for every company who tries to creat a solution to this problem.

Please Apple do one of the following.

1. Share the full schematics with 3rd party manufacturers for the electrical circuit and manufacture of the iPhone mic controller.

2. Manufacture a decent headset yourself using Etimotic or Shure like solutions to provide quality sound.

I do think there is a flaw in the circuit Apple designed for the controller head set that is causing a high failure rate across all points of the headsets being manufactured for the iPhone. Even the speakers are failing on iPhone headsets as a result of some kind of feedback loop or something causing the parts to wear and fail. Apple is not admitting anything but I hear from people there are lots of headsets getting returned with buzzing earpieces and failed connector joints and plugs.

In short this is the best of all the mic controllers I have tried.( I have them all) but it still seems to suffer from the same problem. I also wish they had not used the cloth cover as I fully expect it to fail but hey all the rubber ones are failing at the joint as well so maybe the best solution is just a make them cheap enough to make them nearly disposable as even my high quality Shure Mic at $40 failed with in weeks at the connector.

Great buy
When I got my iPod Touch 2G I knew I needed a microphone, so I started shopping and ended buying the “Griffin SmartTalk Headphone Adapter”. I am very happy with my purchase. The mic is well made, I like the cloth that covers the cord and most importantly, the sound quality is excellent; for such a mall thing. The only downside with the adapter is the extra length of cord I now have. No biggie.

A pure pleasure to use
I spent months evaluating printers before picking the r300. I am very satisfied with my choice.

I’ll start out with the negatives. I have 4 criticisms about the printer:
1. The ink warning light comes on long before you are out of ink.
2. The default print settings appear to be designed around (dark) Adobe Gamma PC video
3. It is not designed to make borderless prints on 3rd party (Kodak) photo paper
4. While the CD printing produces gorgeous images, the ink will smear if it gets wet.

Each of these issues is addressed very easily:
1. Don’t change the ink cartridges until you really run out.
2. Use the advanced options to tweak the gamma, brightness and contrast and save the settings. Pros will make their own curves anyway.
3. Epson paper is better than anything else, but if you have to use other paper, you can “fake” it to get borderless prints with a custom paper setting.
4. Don’t get the CD’s wet. Excepting my own tests, I’ve never had the slightest smear on a CD that I printed from the Epson. Odds are that it’ll never get wet, so don’t worry.

I should add that when I print on quality Epson and Kodak photo paper, the ink sets very well, so that it won’t smear EVEN if it gets wet. I swear, my friend dropped one of my photo-prints in my fishtank and it looks just as good today as it did before it got wet.

I’ve left prints in the sun in the back of my car. The r300 ink hasn’t faded (on Kodak and Epson photo paper). The prints that I had from my old Epson and HP printers are very faded. This ink is durable!

I’ve discovered that I can even get superior iron ons from crummy inkjet iron on paper when I use this printer. It’s more than just the resolution. Where other inks tend to vaporize under the iron, producing fuzzy edges, the r300 images remain sharp.

I’ve tested the output on this thing every way from Sunday and I haven’t found the flaw yet.

I tried the smart memory slots and I hooked up a USB zip drive and yes, it all works although I’ll probably never use those features for more than contact sheets. The uncorrected prints were exceptionally good.

Basically, what I’m saying is that the printer is vastly superior to any other inkjet that I’ve used in my home or at work — and I do graphic design for a living. I find it hard to believe that anyone who tries an r300 won’t fall in love with it.

A Smart Buy
The prints made by this printer really do look like what you’d get from a photo lab, and I dare say better if you know how to use Photoshop or any similar image editing program. What I see out of my monitor is exactly what I get out of the printer, and this is without doing any calibrating whatsoever. This printer has exceeded my expectations, especially when one looks at the $180.00 price tag. I like how it monitors the ink levels by counting each drop that comes out of each cartridge. And each cartridge can be replaced individually. It prints best on Epson premium glossy paper, but Hammermill and HP premium glossies work well too. This printer is a smart buy.

Excellent Machine
I knew there had to be something about this printer, considering every shop, both local and online, seemed to be out of stock. I started seeing them turning up on ebay at 20-30 dollars above retail. After I finally tracked one down and installed it, I can understand why. This is one beautiful machine. All of the pet peeves that I had from my older Epson (Stylus Photo 740) are gone. It doesn’t take time to warm up, it has a small “footprint” on my desk, it is very quiet, it has 7 separate ink cartridges, you can click a box and print in black and white even when the color inks are dry, and the software is top-notch.

The CD/DVD printing works…well, MUCH MUCH better than I ever imagined. I couldn’t believe I was holding a CD-R when I was done. The fleshtones on the photos that I printed were very realistic. I asked my wife to pick which was the photo and which was the printout and she couldn’t tell. Used in tandem with my Perfection 2400 scanner, the R300 printer is a powerful tool.
